During an elementary school play rehearsal I fell backwards off the stage risers. To this day, I attribute both my stage fright and my fear of heights to that incident. Every time I have to step up on a stage, my knees knock and my heart pounds.
I’ve got some real mistakes in my past that rear their ugly head whenever I’m about to take a leap of faith, too. Some sins are harder to shake than others.
Do you have any blunders that delight the Devil?
Ones he keeps using over and over again to make you doubt God’s mercy?
Maybe he strategically brings them to mind just as you are about to step into a new assignment, using them to make you think you’re not qualified for the task ahead because of your past.
Doubt is one of the enemy’s choice weapons, but we combat it with truth.
And here’s the truth: “as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12).
Christ’s sacrifice on the cross covers our every sin. There are no exceptions for those who believe in Him.
But the Devil wins when he keeps us from playing the part God has called us to by convincing us that our past has jeopardized our future.
Overcome the past by trusting God with the future.
Spend some time today praying in your own words and asking God for forgiveness of all your sins. Then ask Him to help you stand on the truth of His Word and protect you from future attacks of the Devil.
