One Saturday morning after a particularly busy week, I had a commitment to attend a Chapel Prayer Breakfast as part of a ministry I lead. I didn’t want to go. My kids really didn’t want to go. Just getting there was a struggle for us all.
As my boys were whisked away by a trio of watch-care workers, I found out my presence was actually required for more than the fifteen minutes I had originally agreed to.
I made my escape from the meeting as quickly as I could to retrieve my kids assuming they would be more than ready to escape.
But guess what? They were having too much fun to leave. They insisted on continuing to learn about prayer and to work on their craft activities with those faithful servants.
I was able to return to the prayer event with peace in my heart and be blessed beyond expectation by the sweet event. It would have been much easier to have slept in that morning, but just look at all we would have missed out on.
Sometimes we get more than mere protection with obedience. Every once in a while we receive blessings beyond our expectations.
Is there something God is calling you to do that feels hard? Trust Him to bless your obedience.
Thank You for all of Your blessings. When the right things are hard to do, encourage me that your blessings often follow my obedience. Forgive me when I forsake Your blessings and fail to do Your will.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
