1/20/2016 0 Comments Conquering Defeat~Wednesday![]() Have you ever read Proverbs 31:10-31? It is a passage that is thought to be King Lemuel’s mother’s advice about finding a wife. The Proverbs 31 woman is smart, funny, confident, hard-working, tireless. She cooks, cleans, sews, gives to the poor. She is wise and kind. Even her children rise up and call her blessed. Wow, what a woman! Don’t we all want to measure up to the standard she sets? Maybe you do, but I fall short all the time. Even when I look at the regular twenty-first century women I do life with, I often come up lacking. But let me let you in on a little secret. The last two verses of this passage provide the key to unlocking our own virtuous woman: “…a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the fruit of her hands and let her own works praise her in the gates.” (Proverbs 31:30-31) Do you fear the Lord? Do you stand in absolute awe of His power and majesty? Do you daily bow down before Him and receive your assignments? When we follow His lead in all we do, we will discover our own exemplary status. Dear Father, I stand in awe of You. Forgive me for the times I have attempted to take on the tasks You have portioned for another. Show me clearly how to remain true to your assignments for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Author: Liz Giertz
