A New Song~Tuesday

Picture

So if worship is not just  a segment of a church service, what is it and why should you care?

The Bible clearly states over and over that we are to worship God.

If you are a believer, you are called to be a worshipper.

What does it even mean to be a worshipper?

Webster’s 1828 dictionary says worship means to adore, to honor with extravagant love and extreme submission.

Do you want to be known as an extravagant lover of God?

Worship extends far beyond the realm of singing. Worship is a way of life. It is an attitude of our hearts. Worship says, “You are God, and I am not.” Worship says, “You, God, deserve all of my heart and all of my life.”

Mary was a worshipper.

She poured her perfume out on the feet of Jesus and washed His feet with her hair. And the fragrance filled the entire house.

Extravagant love.

Adoration that cost her something.

Not the bored singing of a woman just waiting for the song to end. Her heart was fully involved. She was in love with her Savior.

There are days I don’t feel in love with Jesus. Some days are just boring and mundane, and I wonder if Jesus even remembers I am down here trying to do a good job for Him.
These are the times I most need to worship. I need to declare my love for Him, and remind myself of how good He is, of how He loves me, and how He will never forget me.

Worship shifts my focus from myself and my circumstances to Him, filling the air around me with the fragrance of worship.

Jesus,
I want to love You extravagantly. My worship should cost me something because you are worth it. Call to my heart during those days when I’m not feeling important or seen or valued ;call me into worship so I remember it really is about You and Your faithfulness, Your goodness, Your love. And as I remember - I will worship.
