Marriage is a picture of God’s love for His church. Marriage is not easy. Every marriage is made with two, imperfect, selfish people coming together in a covenant intended to last a lifetime. Marriages become healthy with commitment, forgiveness, prayer, self-sacrifice, humility, and agape love!
John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
Jesus demonstrated the greatest act of love possible! He laid down his life for you and me.
How are we loving our husbands? Are we showing them the sacrificial, selfless, committed love we see in 1 Corinthians 13?
Do we constantly behave rudely, nag, and think evil of our husbands? Are we more concerned about getting our own needs met then we are about meeting our husbands’ needs?
What does love look like to your husband? To my husband love looks like words of affirmation and respect, regular times of physical intimacy, tasty meals prepared for him, and supporting him in his work and endeavors.
It’s not always easy to show love to our spouse. Our spouse will inevitably frustrate, hurt, and disappoint us. God uses marriage to refine us, teach us how to truly love, and to draw us closer to Himself.
Thank God for your husband. Ask the Father to help you love him with agape love. Ask your husband how you can better show him love. No matter how healthy or unhealthy your marriage may be right now, God is able to do a good work in your marriage!
YOU ARE LOVED!
