A great picture of the dailyness God desires is in Exodus when the Israelites are in the desert.
They are hungry and they are thirsty - and rightfully so. It is the desert, after all. In Exodus 16 God hears their cry and tells them He will rain down food from heaven. The Israelites are to go out and gather as much as they need for that day. Then He will do the same thing the next day and the next day and the next day.
He could stock them up with food for the week, but He chooses to give them what they need day by day. He is saying the same to us today - I have all you need - come to me day after day after day, and I will fill you up.
I know some days your need and your hunger are greater than other days. I will meet you there in your hunger, in your need, in your lack - and I will give you everything you need.
I will satisfy you.
“Go out and pick up as much as you need for that day.” Exodus 16:4
Jesus, help me to see my daily need for You. Help me to recognize my need each day and turn to You, the only One who will satisfy the deep cries of my heart. Let me not feel ashamed on the days when my hunger is so great I can hardly bear it - but help me instead fall into Your embrace with gratitude knowing I have a place to rest and to be comforted that will never disappoint.
