How long has it been since you've been amazed? (And I'm not talking about amazed at the ridiculousness that you see all around you: I mean the merge lane is a place for the ridiculously amazing every day...how hard is it to merge?)
But when is the last time you were amazed at the incredible things He has shown you?
Have you been amazed at the impossibilities of God? What if we started to believe He really could do the impossible? If I can sit for 2 and a half hours and believe Ethan Hunt can really hang off the side of a plane, can I not believe the Creator of the Universe can do what He has promised?
What has He promised you that seems hard to believe? Begin by asking Him why you struggle to believe these promises. Don’t minimize or dismiss what you are sensing. He wants to show you everything in your heart that keeps you from fully embracing His truth; His promises are truth. They are not fluff - they are not spoken haphazardly. His Word is eternal; He cannot lie. If He has made you a promise, He will keep it. But the enemy will try to keep you from believing. Spend a few minutes asking the Lord to reveal any lies you are believing that keep you in fear that he will not keep His promise to you.
For example, you may think as you pray I’m not worried He won’t keep his promise, I am afraid I will screw it up. There is a lie right there. When you recognize the lie, pray this prayer:
Father, forgive me for believing the lie, e.g., I am more powerful than You, and I can mess up Your plans for me. I break any agreement I have made with this lie, and I ask you to fill me with Your truth, e.g., You will finish everything You started - including Your work in my life. Please help me to agree with Your truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Take some time today to pray and write down the incredible “impossible” things God is showing you.
Verse of the Week:
Call to Me, and I will answer you. And I will show you great and wonderful things which you do not know. (Jeremiah 33:3)
