Lot was saved from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah because of his righteousness and his obedience to the command to keep his eyes focused away from the city as it was ruined. His wife failed to obey, looked back, and was turned to a pillar of salt.
Noah was protected from the flood because of his faith, righteousness, and obedience. But what might have become of him and his family if he had not built the ark?
The Israelites acted in obedience to God’s direction as they marched around Jericho. As unlikely as the tactic seemed, their obedience brought them victory in battle.
By her faith, Rahab did not perish with the unbelievers in Jericho. She placed the cord in the window, and her whole family was saved as the Israelites ransacked their town while conquering God’s Promised Land.
When we seek God’s protection, we do so in faith. We ask. We listen to His guidance. We obey. And then we trust that He will accomplish all things according to His will.
Failure to obey can sometimes identify an area where we might not trust God to take care of us. Is there an area in your life where you find yourself unable to trust God at His Word, or is there an issue in which you struggle to obey His commands?
I commend myself into Your capable hands. Help me to do as You ask in all circumstances. Help me to trust that Your direction is for my protection.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
